1. About these terms
These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and GED Learning Hub ("we", "us", "our") about your use of the website at https://gedlearninghub.co.za and the courses and services on it (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, buying a course or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA") or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECT Act") that cannot lawfully be excluded. If any part of these Terms conflicts with such a right, that right applies.
2. We are not the GED test provider
GED® is a registered trademark of the American Council on Education (ACE) and is administered by GED Testing Service LLC. We are an independent test-preparation provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for ACE or GED Testing Service.
We do not run the official GED test, book test appointments, set or mark official tests, or issue GED credentials. You book and pay for the official test yourself, at GED.com or through an approved testing centre, under GED Testing Service's own rules and fees. Test fees, rules, formats, availability and eligibility are set by GED Testing Service and may change at any time.
3. What you get
We offer a self-study course for each of the four GED subjects: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. You may buy one subject, or several subjects together as a bundle. For each subject you buy, you get online access to:
- the lessons in that subject, with worked examples and practice questions;
- a lesson check after each lesson, and module tests and practice exams, marked automatically with explanations; and
- progress tracking on your dashboard.
The self-study course does not include:
- the official GED test or its fees;
- live classes, one-on-one tutoring, or personal marking of written work such as practice essays; or
- printed materials.
The course is self-paced. You are responsible for your own study, for deciding when you are ready to take the official test, and for booking it.
4. No guarantee of results
We do not guarantee that you will pass any GED test, reach any particular score, or earn a GED credential. Your results depend on many things outside our control, including your prior knowledge, the time and effort you put in, and the official test itself.
Scores on our lesson checks, module tests and practice exams are for practice only. They are not official GED scores and do not predict or guarantee your official result. A pass mark on our practice exams is our own guide, not the GED pass mark.
We also do not guarantee that any university, college, employer, government body or other institution will accept a GED credential, or that having one will lead to admission, employment, promotion or any other outcome. Check the requirements of the institution you plan to apply to yourself.
5. Course content
We work hard to keep our content accurate and in line with the current GED tests, but it is provided for general educational purposes. It may contain errors or omissions, and it may not cover every question or topic that appears on an official test. The official GED tests may change without notice to us.
We may update, improve, reorganise, replace or remove lessons, questions and other content at any time. If we stop offering a subject you have paid for before your access period ends, we will either give you access to a comparable replacement or refund you for the unused part of your access period, whichever you prefer.
If you think something in a lesson or question is wrong, please tell us at support@gedlearninghub.co.za so we can fix it.
6. Your account
The Service is meant for adults. If you are under 18, you may only use it with the consent of your parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
- Give us accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- Each account is for one person. You may not share your login, sell or transfer your access, or let anyone else use your account.
- Tell us straight away at support@gedlearninghub.co.za if you think someone else has used your account.
7. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in South African rand (ZAR) on the Courses page before you pay, and include any VAT that applies. The price depends on how many subjects you buy in one order. We may change our prices at any time, but a change will not affect an order you have already paid for.
Payments are processed by Paystack, a third-party payment provider, under its own terms. We do not see or store your full card details. Your order is confirmed once Paystack confirms the payment to us, and the subjects you bought then appear in your account.
Each purchase is a once-off payment. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically.
Pay in 3 stages: R899 per payment, 3 payments, R2,697 total. Unlock 1 subject, then 1 more, then the final 2. Stage 1 lets you choose one subject; stage 2 lets you choose one additional subject; stage 3 unlocks both remaining subjects. Each stage is a separate manual payment. There is no automatic debit, interest, late fee, or obligation to make a future payment. You can stop after any paid stage and keep access to the unrefunded subjects you paid for until their access periods end.
You can start this plan only if you currently own none of the four core subjects. Once started, you may continue it even though earlier stages have given you subjects. Complete the staged plan before making separate subject purchases; this avoids overlapping purchases. Each stage costs R899 throughout that plan. Alternatively, pay once: R2,499, save R198, and unlock all four subjects immediately. The official GED exam costs are separate.
Before each payment you can review the stage, price, subjects, access period and refund rule, go back to change your selection, or cancel. Your purchase record includes the Terms accepted for that payment and can be printed or saved.
8. How long your access lasts
Each subject you buy gives you access for one (1) year from the date of payment. When that year ends, your access to that subject ends automatically and you will no longer be able to open its lessons, checks and tests. Your account stays open, and you can buy the subject again at any time for a new year of access at the price then current.
Where access was given to you some other way (for example, a course we added to your account without payment, or a plan we sold before these Terms), the access period we told you about at the time applies.
We aim to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. It may be unavailable at times for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control (such as internet, power or hosting outages, including load-shedding). Time lost to short interruptions does not extend your access period.
9. Cancellations and refunds
Immediate access and statutory rights. At checkout you expressly request that the Service begins as soon as payment is confirmed. Where services begin with your consent before the seven-day period ends, ECTA section 42(2)(d) excludes the section 44 cooling-off right. Other statutory rights remain unaffected, including applicable CPA direct-marketing rights and remedies for defective or misdescribed services. Our usage threshold is our voluntary policy, not a threshold set by ECTA.
New purchases. The following voluntary change-of-mind policy applies to purchases made under these Terms once they are published. Request a refund within seven days of the relevant successful payment, while usage of the relevant subject is less than 10%. For once-off bundles, each subject can be cancelled for its equal share of the bundle price, with any cent remainder allocated to the final refund.
How usage is measured. Lesson usage is the higher of distinct paid lessons first opened or lessons completed, divided by the purchased lesson count. Assessment pages, instructions, questions and previews do not count merely because you view them. An assessment counts only after you press an explicit Start confirmation that states its usage value, or save/submit at least one non-empty answer (including an essay response). Public samples and staff previews never count.
Proportional assessment usage. Each independently begun module test, practice exam, diagnostic, essay or legacy test counts its planned minutes divided by the subject's total planned study minutes, multiplied by 100. This is added to lesson usage, with total usage capped at 100%. It does not automatically become 10%. Before a confirmed start we show its additional percentage; an assessment counts once, so resuming, retrying and submitting it do not charge usage again. A lesson check counts only its associated lesson, with no separate assessment weight.
Planned study time includes lessons and standalone assessments. Timed assessments use their configured time limit; untimed tests and diagnostics allow two minutes per planned question; typed essay practice allows 45 minutes per prompt. Lessons use their published estimated minutes, or 20 minutes when no estimate is supplied. The purchased inventory and these weights are frozen at checkout, so later content edits cannot change eligibility. Existing usage and progress remain on repurchase. Eligibility uses the exact combined fraction: usage of 10% or more ends voluntary eligibility. This is a documented usage estimate, not proof of actual time spent or reading.
Staged purchases are atomic. Only the most recently purchased stage qualifies for a voluntary refund. Successfully paying the next stage ends the previous stage's voluntary eligibility, even if its seven days have not elapsed. Merely opening checkout or a failed payment does not end it. This condition is shown before every stage payment. Stage 3 is one R899 purchase: both newly unlocked subjects must individually be below 10% combined lesson and meaningful assessment usage, and its refund returns the full R899 and removes access to both subjects. Stage 3 cannot be voluntarily refunded in parts. None of these conditions waives rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Refund processing. Request cancellation from My Courses or email support@gedlearninghub.co.za. Access to the affected content is suspended while Paystack processes the refund. A pending or processing refund has not yet completed. If it succeeds, removal becomes final; if it fails, the access suspended by that refund is restored, provided no independent dispute or suspension prevents access and the original access period has not expired. Paystack may need additional information to process a refund. Contact us if you need assistance or the provider cannot complete it.
Continuing after a staged refund. While a refund is pending, you cannot progress to another stage. After a successful refund, you must repurchase the refunded stage before continuing. That new payment gives the refunded subjects a new 12-month access period; unrefunded subjects keep their original access periods. Statutory or administrator refunds of an earlier stage are reviewed individually, preserving unrelated paid access.
Existing purchases keep their original conditions. Purchases made before this policy was published are not changed retrospectively. Where the original seven-day, less-than-20%-completion policy applies, it remains applicable; opening lessons does not replace that completion-only rule. Earlier plans retain their original access conditions.
Outside our voluntary policy, contact support@gedlearninghub.co.za about any statutory remedy. A declined voluntary refund does not determine whether you have a statutory right. Chargebacks can suspend the subjects funded by the disputed payment. If the dispute is decided in our favour, only its suspension is lifted; another refund or access restriction is not undone.
10. Acceptable use and our content
All content on the Service, including lessons, questions, explanations, graphics and software, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. While your access lasts, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the content for your own studies only.
You may not:
- copy, download, record, sell, share, publish or distribute our content, or questions and answers from it;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access or copy the Service, or use our content to train software or AI models;
- try to get around payment, access limits or security, or interfere with how the Service works; or
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm anyone.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms. Where the breach is serious (for example, sharing your account or copying our content), we may do so without a refund, to the extent the law allows. You may close your account at any time by emailing us.
11. Other services and links
The Service uses and links to services run by others, such as Paystack for payments, video players for embedded videos, and GED.com. We are not responsible for those services, their content or their terms, and your use of them is at your own risk and under their terms.
12. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We are not responsible for:
- your results in any official test, or any decision by an institution, employer or other person about you or your GED;
- fees you pay to anyone else, including GED test fees, travel or equipment costs;
- loss of data, time, income, opportunity or other indirect or consequential loss; or
- problems caused by your device, internet connection, power supply or things outside our reasonable control.
If we are found liable to you, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim.
None of this limits our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, including for loss caused by our gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing, or any right you have under the CPA that cannot be excluded.
13. Your responsibility to us
You agree to compensate us for any loss, damage or costs (including reasonable legal costs) that we suffer because you broke these Terms or used the Service unlawfully, to the extent the law allows.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or on the website before it takes effect. The version in force when you made a purchase applies to that purchase. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
15. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If you have a complaint, please email us first at support@gedlearninghub.co.za and we will try to resolve it within a reasonable time. You may also have the right to approach the National Consumer Commission or another consumer body, or a court with jurisdiction.
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
